From farm to table — three days about
the potato, the people and South-East Transylvania.
Covasna County has land, has history, has people. It also has a potato — one of the best in the country. Taste of Covasna brings them all together: farmers, chefs, researchers, travellers. From farm to table, in a single August week.
Over three days, Târgu Secuiesc becomes the national capital of the potato. Gábor Áron Square, Petőfi Sándor and Kossuth Lajos streets, Wegener and Molnár Józsiás parks — all host seven thematic zones covering the entire food chain.
Under the patronage of the Ministry of Agriculture and with the support of AFIR, the Covasna County Council and the local municipality, the 2026 festival brings together farms, cooperatives, restaurants, retailers, public institutions and technology companies — on a single stage.
The concept is multicultural by design: it celebrates both Romanian and Székely traditions, through performances, workshops, fairs and tastings. Five strategic pillars — gastronomy, agriculture, tourism, culture and digitalization — give it its backbone.
First and foremost, however, this is a festival about land. About what grows from it, who works it and everything that happens between field and table.
Where the story begins.
Covasna County sits on one of Romania's most precious agricultural reserves. Volcanic soils, mineral waters, real winters. Here, the potato is not just another crop — it is a profession with generational roots and a strategic regional product.
The festival begins at the soil, because everything begins at the soil.
Generations of work.
From the families of Cernat and Zabala to the large mechanised cooperatives — in Covasna, the field remains the place where what ends up on tomorrow's table is decided. Varieties, techniques, machinery and people: the festival brings precision agriculture alongside tradition.
Drones, IoT sensors, GPS for tractors, AI for harvest prediction. Past and future, on the same row.
Three days in August.
21, 22, 23 August 2026. Peak potato season. The festival brings to Târgu Secuiesc seven thematic zones and five pillars, across three full days. A celebration at the right time, in the right place.
Thursday, Friday, Saturday. From the official opening to the closing concert.
"From farm to table — a whole county on a single table."Core concept · Taste of Covasna 2026
Where the farmer meets the world.
Farmers Market open to the public: over 60 stands, producers from across the country, retailers (Kaufland, Lidl, Profi, Metro), processors and HORECA. Here, the short food chain becomes visible — fair price meets authentic product.
Visit Covasna and Visit Kézdi showcase the region in parallel as a gastro-tourism destination.
Where ingredients become craft.
Five local chefs, two national guests and the Vigadó, Pub For You and Atrium restaurants bring the potato through traditional fire and contemporary reinterpretations. Show cooking, street food, themed tastings and two major contests: Traditional Recipe and Recipe of the Year 2026.
Székely cuisine, Romanian cuisine, reinvented cuisine — on the same plate.
Where we gather.
A multicultural festival by design: Székely and Romanian traditions on the same stage, folk ensembles, folk and contemporary concerts, craft workshops, themed evenings. One hospitality, two identities, thousands of guests.
The table is, ultimately, what unites us all.
Each pillar has its own workshops, exhibitions and competitions — together they cover the entire journey from farm to table. Click on any of them to explore in detail.
Gábor Áron Square is the nucleus: from here, along Petőfi Sándor and Kossuth Lajos streets, the gastronomy, agriculture, smart farming, HORECA, tourism, culture and business zones radiate outward. Wegener and Molnár Józsiás parks complete the map.
